Fun in December!

Brian and I were so excited for December.  We really wanted to get in the spirit, so we started decorating at the beginning of the month.  We started with some lights.  We put them in the window of Brian's apartment and added a couple of little window hangings Brian had.  I think it made the complex look festive.

Brian pulled out his cute little mini tree his mom gave him years ago.  Here is Brian putting some of his small ornaments on it.  It was such a cute tree!

We had thought about getting a real tree, but had received an ad for Big Lots and they were selling 6 foot pre lit fake trees for $25.  We decided that was a good deal and went there.  The tree only had white lights on it, so Brian decided to add a strand of color lights as well.  We then hung our ornaments.  My mom gave me all my ornaments from home last year and Brian had some that he took from work decor.  When we went to Texas I convinced him to get a Baylor ornament to put on a tree every year.  Here is Brian putting it on the tree.

Here's a great cheesy shot of me decorating!  We had on Christmas music while we decorated and drank hot chocolate afterward while we admired the tree.  It looked amazing!

See for yourself!

We decided to take part in what Los Angeles had to offer.  We ventured out one night to the Los Angeles Zoo to take part in their light festival.  Every year different Chrismtas light displays are put up for people to enjoy.  You can either walk through or drive through depending on which week you go.  We decided to walk which was nice.  We could go at our own pace, but it was a little chilly.  Here are some pictures from the Light Festival.

One Saturday in December we decided that it would be fun to go out to breakfast.  Brian knew of a place he wanted to take me called More Than Waffles.  When I saw the menu online I knew I had to try this place out.  It sounded like something I would love and boy, did I!

I'm sure you can tell from the pictures these were yummy!  My waffles were dipped in chocolate and topped with bananas, ice cream, and whipped cream.  Brian's waffles were topped with strawberries, blueberries, bananas, kiwis, and whipped cream.  It was the best breakfast ever!

Later that day I decided that Brian and I should make some Christmas cookies.  I chose sugar cookies because I thought that it would be fun to buy festive cookie cutters and frost them and everything.  Boy was I wrong.  It's not as much fun as it is hard work.  Here are some pictures of us making the cookies!

I also made my favorite Christmas fudge.  I love making this stuff and do every year.  I had been bragging to Brian how good it was and as you can see from the picture, I think he agreed!

Here is Brian frosting our cookies a couple of days later.  There were so many cookies, so we didn't get too wild with the decorating.  We just dipped them in frosting (a great tip from April).

I wanted to be crafty this Christmas and sew our names on our stockings, but it proved a little difficult.  Here's a picture of Brian and I with the stockings.  As you can see I was a little lazy with the names because it was hard.  We ended up with "BB" and "Jen" when I really meant them to say Brian and Jennifer.  Oh well.  Maybe next time I'll figure it out, or send the stockings out to be embroidered.
