BB

I've been meaning to blog about this for weeks, but was unsure how to bring all this up. I guess many of you know, so it's not such a big deal now.

So, I'm dating someone! It's a great story that I love sharing.

Brian and I met through work. We both work in the Mortgage industry. He was my contact at a company (in Los Angeles) that mine works with. I had to speak with him almost daily regarding different issues that I came across with loans that I was funding. We started talking last March, but it wasn't until August/September that our conversations became more personal. We would talk about what we had done over the weekend and also other interests. I loved talking to Brian and it was one of my favorite parts of the work day. We discovered that we have a lot in common. Brian grew up in Texas and went to Baylor University graduating in English (just like me) and he loves to read (I love that). He's a football fan (major bonus points) and we cheer for the same teams (Dallas Cowboys and USC Trojans). We also liked to talk about music and movies. As we got to know each other I developed a crush on him and took to calling him "Boyfriend Brian (BB)" to my co-workers. They thought it was so funny! We would email back and forth occasionally and I would try to find out more things about him. I was worried that he was married and that my flirting was inappropriate, so I had sneakily asked him once if he watched football games with his girlfriend or friends. He then told me he had no girlfriend. Yahoo!

Since Brian lives and works in Los Angeles I mentioned in December that it would be fun if we got together to hang out when I was home for Christmas. He agreed and then told me that he liked me. I was a little shocked because I thought my feelings were one-sided and I didn't really know where to go from there. Brian came down on a Sunday in December where we spent the day in San Diego. He had never been to San Diego so I took him to Balboa Park, Old Town, and the beach. He also mentioned that he wanted to go to church with me. I hadn't mentioned my beliefs too much to Brian because I wasn't sure if he had any interest, but he knew that my religion was a big part of my life and wanted to see what it was about. We ended up going to my old singles ward in Del Mar where Andrea was giving her homecoming talk. We attended Sacrament meeting and then we discussed my beliefs a little bit afterwards. It was a fun day spending time with someone I talked to for so many months.

Brian and I ended up hanging out one more time while I was in San Diego. We've talked everyday since. Things have really changed. I found out in mid January that Brian was attending a ward in Los Angeles and meeting with the missionaries. His interest in the Gospel had grown and he wanted to learn more. I was so excited because I know what a blessing it is to have the Gospel and I hoped he would find the same happiness that I have found. We determined that we really liked each other and Brian decided to come to Salt Lake for a visit. He came over President's Weekend and I showed him Salt Lake. We spent a lot of time at Temple Square and even went to the Draper Temple open house. It was such a fun weekend and I truly enjoyed spending time with Brian. The next weekend, Brian was baptised into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! We also decided that weekend to try a long distance relationship. Things so far have been good. We talk everyday (a little bit a work) and then every night. I went out to see him in March where we had lots of fun and he will be coming back to Salt Lake next weekend. Brian is a really amazing guy who has come to mean a lot to me.

Anyway, just wanted to share the story with you. Here are some pictures of us too.

Here's Brian and I when he was in Salt Lake back in February. Sorry it's a little blurry. We took it ourselves.

This is us in Malibu for the sunset in March. I miss sunny and warm California.

Yeah! That's so cool Jen! I'm so impressed with you sharing the gospel and everything. I get shy when the opportunity comes up. I love your story too! I think too many people jump into relationships without realizing the joy of being able to talk. It's my favorite thing about Jon. We can sit and talk for hours. You guys are a cute couple!
