I WENT CAMPING!

Yes, you did read that right, I went camping. Granted it wasn't completely roughing it, but it was enough of a stretch for me, someone who hadn't been camping since she was 16 (Girls Camp). I think I mentioned before that the area I live around has 4 singles wards that used to be combined into 1. Now it's referred to as the Holladay-4 or the H-4 wards. I guess every year the H-4 have a little retreat that they put together. It's called the Summer Rendezvous. This year it was planned up at the Heber Valley Camp which is owned by the church and is used for Girls Camp all summer long. There are several different camp grounds and they have cabins, bathrooms/showers, and even a kitchen. The theme of this year's Rendezvous was "The Power of Balance." So, close to 300 Young Single Adults boarded school buses on a Thursday afternoon and were transported to Heber. Here's a look at the schedule:

Thursday-check in, dinner, Concert with Ryan Shupe, and Sam Payne, campfires, and bed

Friday-Breakfast, Morning Devotional with Sister Oaks, Ropes Course, Lunch, Hike (I didn't hike because I was super tired and wanted a shower...haha), Dinner, Fireside with Gary Little (EFY speaker), Square Dancing, campfires, and bed

Saturday- Breakfast, Morning Devotional with Bishop Ralphs (my Bishop), Classes/Workshops that focused on Balance, lunch, tying quilts service project, testimony meeting, bus ride home

Anyway, I'm sure you'd like to see a couple of pictures now :) Here ya go!

These pictures are of me on the "Big Swing" which was a part of the ropes course. I'm normally a pretty fearful person and so I honestly didn't think I'd go on this, but somehow it didn't dawn on me what I was doing until I was being strapped to the thing. It was so scary and I screamed like a little girl, but it was so much fun!
All in all it was a great trip. I even enjoyed the square dancing! Who knew? I met a lot of cool people since the majority of my friends didn't go. The sleeping arrangements weren't that great. We had wooden bunk beds and they were so uncomfortable, but everything else was wonderful. I don't remember being attacked by bugs either, although we were warned of bears and badgers.
I think I could pretty much enjoy camping this way.

Wow! I'm impressed you went camping...and not against your will! Sounds like a good time though, and I'm glad you met new people!

I would have loved to have been there with you and seen you do that Big Swing. I loved living with you and watching you scream. Remember the dead skunk?
