Breaking Dawn

I became a Vampire lover last summer when April let me borrow "Twilight", a book that many people are now very familiar with. I was completely enthralled from the first chapter and I read the book within a day. I then picked it up and read it again. I was in love! At the end of "Twilight" there is the first chapter from the 2nd book in the series, "New Moon". I decided I had to read "New Moon" immediately, so I walked to the Barnes and Nobel that was close to my apartment in San Diego and bought it. I took it home that day and had it finished in less than 24 hours. So, the next day, I walked to Barnes and Noble again to buy the 3rd book, "Eclipse." I couldn't believe how obsessed I had become with a Young Adult novel, but many of you know that 1. I love to read, and 2. I'm a sucker for a love story!

So, for the last year, I had been anxiously awaiting the release of the 4th and final novel in the series, "Breaking Dawn." Many friends around me were familiar with the books and so it only assisted in fueling my excitement! Finally on August 2nd at midnight, Breaking Dawn was released! My co-worker Cindy and I went to a Barnes and Noble release party and picked up our books! Here are some pictures from that night:

I was on Team Edward, and had a tattoo to prove it! Sadly, he's become one of the standards that I now hold men I meet to. Ha ha!

The diet coke was my means of staying up to read. I started the book at 1am. I read until 6am (when my eyes couldn't stay open anymore) and then I took a nap from 6-10am and then I picked the book up again and didn't leave my room until i finished. It took me about 8 1/2 hours to read the 750 page book.
I'm not sure how much of my opinion on the book I should state, because I don't want to ruin anyone's experience, but I was disappointed in the overall story. There were a lot of weird things that happened that I didn't expect and really wasn't very impressed with. I guess that happens.
Now, I'm somewhat looking forward to the movie "Twilight" which opens on November 21st. I'm sure I'll be disappointed with that too, since movies are never as good as books! Oh well.

Jen
I am a total Twilight junkie too! I am also on Team Edward and just wish Jacob would get killed by a vampire! I had the same feelings you did about the last one. I was not impressed. I liked parts of course, but overall I didn't think she stayed true to her characters and story. Thanks for saying hi on my blog!

Oh Jen, it makes me so so sad to hear that you didn't like the book. I really loved it. I thought it was slower than the other books, but still wonderful. I wouldn't have changed a thing.

I hated it! I actually returned my book and got jane eyre- a book worth owning. I still loved the first three, but SM was clearly on something with this book.
